We're running the second edition of vJUG24 on October 25th 2017. For those that didn't hear about our marathon event last year, it's a free 24 hour online Java conference that spans the globe. We present top content from speakers all around the world. Last year we have over 10,000 views across the 24 hours. We'll present TWENTY-FOUR live sessions, one after the next, all with very little sleep :) You're welcome to just watch the sessions you like, or leave it on in the background while you work! 

I'd be very grateful if you could share this among your communities/JUGs so that everyone has the opportunity to participate in the largest Java conference in the world ;o)

As many of you followed, we run a Tour around several cities in the US a few weeks ago.

We want to extend the content from the tour to all JUGs, specially the ones in the US and similar time zones.

To do that, we are repeating all the presentations ONLINE -- and LIVE!


Next week (yes, the only time we were able to get everyone together) we will repeat all presentations, but this time they will be online. We put together a schedule, with one presentation a day, in US Central time zone, to make it as easy as possible for more people to participate.

RIP Frans Thamura

Hi guys,

It saddens me to announce that Frans Thamura, a friend and Leader of
JUG Indonesia, has passed away today. Details are scarce, but he had
been hospitalized due to stroke since early of June 2017.

For those who don't know him, Frans Thamura is the pioneer of JUG in
Indonesia. He also had been helping underprilidged students to learn
Java and lift their standards of living. He's outspoken, a bit
controversial, but idealistic with his dreams. He will certainly be
missed by many.

Note: I'm no longer in Indonesia, so I'm not the best person to help
deliver anything in person to his family.

In this session we will be doing a hack day as part of the global Adopt
OpenJDK program getting ready for the release of Java SE 9. We kicked
off a testing program in 2016 and now it is really the time to be
getting ready the release of Java 9 coming in July 2017. This is a hack
day as part of the ongoing global adoption and outreach effort.

We will be holding an all day hands on hack session covering the new
modules system in Java 9, the JLink tool which allows you to create Java

spending quality time with his family, cooking and eating great food.
